  • debeers: $GM-does GM stand for General Motors? hmmmmm? Or, as i believe it does stand for Gimmee More. Mary Barra is so superior to the Ford CEO it is not even up for debate and today UBER has chosen the Cruise vehicles to be part of UBER platform. Have yourselves a weekend!
  • scottrades: ...
In Canada, $CP Rail workers went on strike last night which has international implications. I said to my wife as I saw the headline come across that this could have an impact on fuel and food prices and she just rolled her eyes. I think we’re ...
  • bigbartabs: @scottrades $GLD $TLT $UUP $CP $TECK $GOLD $MGA $F $GM $SU $IMO $CNQ $IBIT $MSTR $LEN $KBH $PHM $MHO $TOL $NVDA $META $ANET $PLTR ... and there's few economic interruptions that turn out as severe as transportation disruptions. Take the LA Port fiasco that occurred... perfect example of how bad it can get in that sector.
  • Hawaiianmaxx: @bigbartabs $GLD $TLT $UUP $CP $TECK $GOLD $MGA $F $GM $SU $IMO $CNQ $IBIT $MSTR $LEN $KBH $PHM $MHO $TOL $NVDA $META $ANET $PLTR I stared to plant vegetables in the yard for that reason. Hawaii only has about 3 days worth of food if matson or young brothers can't bring food here
  • scottrades: @joelsg1 I'm working off the top of my head but I would imagine, Agricultural companies would be impacted the most, along with mining companies like $TECK or $GOLD, could get hit. Also thinking about Automakers, like Magna International, or $F and $GM. Oil and Gas like $SU, $IMO or $CNQ. Hope that's helpful!
  • joelsg1: @scottrades $TECK $GOLD $F $GM $SU $IMO $CNQ Gotta use what we can.
  • scottrades: $GM could be a bottom fish here.
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
After the bell, we have IBM, NOW, KLAC, WM, RSG, ORLY, F, LVS, ALGN, and CMG (would you like some expensive guac with that?) reporting, among others. $GM reported great numbers yesterday, but China's numbers and analyst comments spooked investors.
    ...
  • joelsg1: $ASPN $GM keeps their EV forecast at 200-250k, good for $ASPN as their largest customer. Long.
  • BarryC: @camaro69 $WM $BRK $GM!! Best I can say is don't force anything... I got stopped out of a few positions this week and I have NOT put on anything new. Im also going slow at the moment.
  • scottrades: My notes: $SPY Just under the 8EMA $QQQ Under the 21 EMA $IWM Needs a rest $DXY Lower Low $TNX Lower Low $TLT Trying to change the trend $XLV Weekly break out $XRT Clear resistance $SMH Watch for support around the 50 Day $XLF Working but extended $IBIT Near the 50 Day $GLD Buy the bounce $BRK.B Safe haven $NVDA Watch the 50 Day $MSFT Bounce near the 50 $WMT Trending up $TGT Above all the MAs $KO Near the 22 highs $KR Watch for a PB $ALC Watch 92.65 $PRCT Trending up $TSLA Earnings next week $GM Earnings next week

  • BarryC: $GM Worth Watching
  • debeers: ...
$GM- for Barry and y'all-Costco is helping GM sell EV's. For those of us who will NEVER buy one,
their autos are simply better made. The escalation in the Ford trucks givesw Mary an opening-
in the middle of the country GM outsells Ford
    $LLY- why is ...
  • debeers: $GM/$JPM-so this mornig the folks at JP Morgan came out and said no rate cut until November. This was a leap for them. My premise was that we would get a rate cut before the election and if so it would benefit $GM way more than Ford because of th use of Costco as a distribution center so sold it .
  • joelsg1: $ASPN Mary Barra spoke at $GM's shareholder meeting today and said May was GM's best month for EVs. Bodes well for $ASPN because GM is their biggest customer. Added ah.
  • woodman: $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen - What auto EV company wil take up the charge to supercharge with Tesla laying off its supercharger team? And what of all those federal subsidies Musk took - free money to him - for the charging system? Billionaires never acknowledge how they are benefitted by the socialism they decry. Really sucks for all the companies that came on-board to Tesla's charging systems. Now they wait to see what the fallout will be. https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/30/24145621/tesla-layoff-supercharger-ev-charging-nacs-elon-musk https://finance.yahoo.com/news/musk-disbands-tesla-ev-charging-202301433.html
  • DavidK: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen Musk needs to slowly sell his Tesla stock and buy Disney . Saving an American company that touches many more lives would leave a more positive impact on society than driverless taxis and all the other nonsense being thrown around . When he develops a vehicle like the Jetsons , then I am interested . Until then , I will drive a battery powered golf cart only . Let’s put a Mr in front of Mickey Mouse’s name again .
  • woodman: @DavidK $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen - His Hyperloop in Las Vegas is another Musk cash-grab that has yielded nothing except making him even more wealthy. The only thing true about it was the first 4 letters in its name.
  • DavidK: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen I don’t blame him for taking money from the corrupt govt . Look at all the worthless companies these WallStreet Crooks bring public knowing damn well 90% will fail . Insiders and underwriters getting rich . 🤑
  • debeers: $GM- Beats and raises. Of course it did! Along came Mary. Sure the company stands for General Motors. IMO with inflation what it is and $GM not only beating but raising-- it should be called Gimme Mary
  • debeers: $GM-should have a fixed cost reduction of 2B by year's end. Simple formula really. What you spend vs. what you sell and what you save.
  • DavidK: $CLF - well they missed earnings . Covered my short calls and still holding the long calls. Small postion . CEO on CNBC I think at 4 pm today so he will be pumping . Auto market biggest customer so if $GM is raising guidance maybe get a bounce in $CLF.
  • debeers: @DavidK $CLF $GM -Nope IMO
  • debeers: Following are my longs with the reasons attached: $ANF a drop to 109 seems doable so i rebought $FANG- Would he dare refill the petroleum reserves with oil from Iran? $GM--Well Mary is geared for money not politics and, realizin g no one wanted the EV's unless one lived in New York or Cali, she said screw it. I am putting my energies toward ICE trucks and cars and maybe someday we'll acknowledge that, with China burning coal at a furious rate, we don't stand a chance against global warming anyway. $ITCI- if not this, pick another teeny weenie when Woody comes back $META- Zuck money goes to An imal Rescue so i hafta think he pulls this off. Maybe, just maybe the Congress bans Tik Tok becausedi8f you didn't alreadsy get it the Chinese use this as a vehicle for spying on you.
  • vitoB: @debeers $ANF $FANG $GM $ITCI $META ...at 108.80 im on the same side as you now, long
  • debeers: @vitoB $ANF $FANG $GM $ITCI $META -The wedding show as a winner winner chicken dinner and if anyone can record a profit on the high end its Fran.
  • bigreek42: nice move by $gm
  • bigreek42: $gm close to new highs
  • Margi1983: @debeers $GM $META $MSFT $MTDR $NVDA $NUE Ahhh, Lady @debeers and another David Ortiz reference. Too bad he can't come back as our Red Sox stink. Love $META stock, despise Zuck. I am with you on $MSFT, $MTDR, $NVDA. I cannot buy or own $GM as I know from selling equipment to to the auto industry, they Mary and others are dirty, almost Mafia types with suppliers. I know it is at a 3 year low, but $BYDDY is pretty interesting as they sell more EV's than anyone else globally. A starter at 45.
  • curtis: @BarryC $AMD $NVDA $TSLA $SPY $GM needs to hold 37.11 https://www.tradingview.com/x/tKEptRGC/
  • BarryC: @curtis $AMD $NVDA $TSLA $SPY $GM - It would depend on ones timeframe IMO
  • phgruver: Nice earnings beat for $GM, but lousy divy ($.09/qtr). Unfortunately, I own $F and $STLA. Hopefully, they had good quarters too....
  • DavidK: $CLF $GM - well if Gm says business is good , inventory low that bodes well for $CLF . Not what car dealers in my area say but hey it’s just a small sample . I own a few clf calls
  • debeers: $GM-and then along came Mary. She could care less what the government wants--she'll pull shares off the market and prioduce what sells $META- i cant stand him but who else has cut costs as much $MSFT- tough bar for nadella to cross. It has always paid me to stick with him $MTDR-above the 50--David ortiz says jew want to be in this one! $NVDA-you casn dump all you want on a stock that cannot produce enough quick enought to satisfy its customers By the way, i believe in diversification---if you havent guessed and other s i own are Woody stocks Oh, did i mention $NUE? no? silly me--called it in to Mad Money about 3 weeks ago because no one squeezes a nickel like Topalian
  • scottrades: $GM The SEC and DOJ are looking into GM’S Self Driving Division.
  • debeers: $AAPL/$BA/$CVX/$GM/$LULU/$MS/$NVDA/$PANW/$SNOW- of all of these my biggest positions are Boeing and Frank Slootman's brainchild. If you were silly enough not to recognize that guys love $LULU as much as gals---well now you know.

  • BocaRick: $GM from CNBC 20 million cars with faulty air bags. Possible recall? who has liability, GM or air bag manufacturers?
  • champ: @BocaRick $GM......my guess is...Both but $GM will say, they have a contract ....so it is the Air-Bag companies....courts might even get involved, if it goes that far...but-it-won't.
  • traderbren: $GM - hitting a new 52-wk low. NP
  • Docoof: @traderbren $GM Same for $HSY and $BAC today.
  • joelsg1: $TSLA Why is this up today? $F and $GM combined sold 41k EVs in Q3 and lost money on each. $TSLA sold 435k in Q3 and made nearly $10k per vehicle in 2022 and probably more per vehicle this year. ($RIVN on path but not yet profitable.) Long.
  • Docoof: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN This is a little far-fetched, but I think it also has a lot to do with this: https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1709592361481777360?s=46&t=R7IHRtfFyLf0cyPMxREPjw
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN Yes. Always think the stock price is to at least some extent a barometer on Musk.
  • woodman: @Docoof $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN - It's a step in the right direction, and I am happy to see it. I sincerely hope this is just the beginning and that Musk/X management keep moving forward with this by doing more and more to combat hate, racism and anti-Semitism on the site and anywhere Musk mingles.
  • woodman: $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN ... and hopefully a move away from stuff like this. https://www.npr.org/2023/10/04/1203339945/elon-musk-neo-nazi-defamation-lawsuit-ben-brody
  • champ: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN ....#OT....Most everybody is happy that Musk is finally suing for all of that disinformation, that keeps being posted all over the place, all the Musk haters keep posting disinformation it seems, over and over.
  • Docoof: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN We’re in agreement. The difficulty lies in evaluating Musk’s intentions with respect to the problems you mention. There is a passage in the new biography that, in my opinion, illustrates a significant part of this difficulty: “When X was born, Musk took a picture of Grimes having a C-section and sent it around to friends and family, including her father and brothers. Grimes was understandably horrified and scrambled to get it deleted. ‘It was Elon‘s Asperger‘s coming out in full,’ she says. ‘He was just clueless about why I’d be upset.’” (None of this is meant to provide an excuse or justification for anything he’s done, whether good or bad.)
  • curtis: $F $GM UAW livestream https://youtu.be/C4KttRLbWoU?si=2Q1fHhSMkAiP1Yw_ GM and stellantis - 38 parts distribution centers on strike. Ford no more actions. So, I learned to drive a forklift for nothing... :(
  • Henry: $GM $F $STLA Biden is supposed to speak today, but if a time has been announced for that, I cannot find it. Bloomberg said "He will set the tone for how we are going to deal with this" Really?
  • curtis: @Henry $GM $F $STLA (I don't see this making any difference), Anticipating this will last at least a month and end with a 25% increase in pay.
  • curtis: $F $GM UAW Shaw Fein on CNBC.
  • Sanelan: @scottrades - EV in focus for $F - plans on double production of F150 pick up truck in 2024; $GM, $NIO ( not so keen on this one though )
  • scottrades: @Sanelan $F $GM $NIO The patterns aren't great. Don't love when they gap into a bunch of moving averages, but I saw it gap up .

  • shoredriver: $F $GM...saw a quickie on Bloomberg that the UAW new demands would add 80b to Ford and GM costs each...currently hourly comp is valued at approx $65 pr hour..If this passes it would take hourly comp including health and retirement to around $150 per hour....and likely bankrupt both entities... Guess who would get to bail them out...again... Gee ...that's not inflationary....
  • Henry: $GM $F Union wants 20% signing bonus, 20% raise over 4 years and a 32 hr work week.
  • kenb: @Henry $GM $F I would like that as well, where do I sign up?
  • PhilHarmonic: @Henry $GM $F Sounds good to me.
  • shoredriver: @Henry $GM $F ....how more out of touch can they be?. .. ($YELL)... ..Gee that's not inflationary.......$TSLA....
  • Henry: @Henry $GM $F decreased productivity and inflationary. I do agree with the union's complaint that the top execs are making 40% more. Executive pay is an abomination.
  • traderbren: $GM - look for it to trade up to close the gap.
  • Bandit: @bb_b $gm Citi analysts said after hours yesterday that they expect the stock to double.
  • debeers: $GM-submitted an application for a self-driving car today. I have no idea what the folks at Citi are smokin' but they raised the price to 89 bucks. Considering its around 40 now........ I have some of this stock because it think Barra is a helluva lot better manager than Farley. I can drive my own racecar around a track....All i want is a good leader with an opportunistic bent.
  • bb_b: $gm up 12 straight days. Is that an exhaustion gap?
  • debeers: $GM-Bank of America goes to 72 from 70. Stock closed under 40 yesterday it is their fave auto stock. LONG $COST-Too bad Cramer cannot boost sales for them. Sales fell.No position

  • joelsg1: @Cjauger $TSLA Not crowded right now whenever I use, granted mostly on the freeway because home charge, but the car directs you to the best uncrowded charger in realtime. And we're talking miniscule quantities of $F and $GM for now. Tesla runs its Supercharger network like a separate business and will use the cash flow to continue to grow their network. The more income-producing chargers, the better.
  • Henry: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM Fast Money talked about a huge number of dissatisfied non-Tesla owners with their charging stations. 20 plus% $CHPT taking the dive.
