  • LFYoda: $VOC is on a nice little ride.
  • LFYoda: Looking for a solid high yield stock to park some of my money in. Recommendations? Long term so price fluctuations not a big deal, just company longevity. I’m looking at $LADR $MPW $NLY $VOC thoughts…
  • Kid2old: @LFYoda $LADR $MPW $NLY $VOC MAIN - I have money parked in $MAIN. Pays 0.225 around the 5th of the month. About 7% now.
  • mopick: @LFYoda $LADR $MPW $NLY $VOC, I would strongly recommend $RNP, solid collection of Reits from a very reputable company, yielding over 8%., pays monthly. Also, $ARCC, largest BDC company with a great track record, nevery has cut its distribution, yield over 10%. Others like $JEPI, probably my favorite, from JP Morgan, yielding over 11%, writes covered calls on their positions, pays monthly. $UTF or $UTG from Cohen & Steers, utilities and infrastructure. Solid company!! BTW, I would strongly advise you NOT to buyy $MPW. This company's financials are not great, dividend cut very possible.
  • LFYoda: @Kid2old $LADR $MPW $NLY $VOC $MAIN thanks!
  • LFYoda: @mopick $LADR $MPW $NLY $VOC $RNP $ARCC $JEPI $UTF $UTG thanks!
  • spmeyers: High-yield (8-9% TTM) energy trusts pulling back to buy points ahead of their ex-div dates [1/28]: $VOC and $PRT
  • spmeyers: $VOC pullback to 20-day on this oil trust -- 13% yield
  • mharps: $voc-increase in div to .21 and big volume again-this has been a reliable div payer but must be regardeed as very speculative
  • mharps: $VOC-lost a lot in this one last year but came back this am with a small buy. Something is going on. Stated yield of over 9%. $SUN- finally getting a payoff on this one. Stated yield of almost 14%. be careful
  • dunsek: $VOC potential bottom in VOC energy trust. Low on Nov 4 and Nov 6 was 8.35, after a two-month crater from 15. The stock completed a quasi-Aragorn yesterday; more than 3 red bars, didn't come as a Bull Flag and didn't bounce at the MA, but it did close above the inside day high yesterday on a nice percentage move. That's indicating higher low to me, with identifiable oops line at the low of the inside day. Bad new: that's 5% below the close. Good news: this thing has a 16.5% yield at the moment. Bad news: that yield could indicate the market thinks the payout is unsustainable. Good news: maybe the yield becomes more realistic by the stock moving up. And that's why they call it trading... Good luck out there today. And remember, it's Friday.
  • bullmoose: @jan2138 Hi Dana, remember the stops I kept raising on part of my $VGR holdings? Well, they still haven't been hit. I've been quite happy with this high yielder. My partial stop is now below the low from two weeks ago. I stopped out of $VOC today. Can't win 'em all.
  • bullmoose: REITs are getting battered due to the strong dollar and threat of rising interest rates. I've raised a few stops. On another high-yield note, $VOC is threatening to fall out the bottom of a squeeze.
  • bullmoose: $VOC - High yielders, keep an eye on $VOC, which is in a tight squeeze and yields 10.5%. I bought a few weeks ago and have been patiently waiting for it to pop above the 20-week.
  • jan2138: @bullmoose $VOC: The producing properties are in Texas and Kansas. The trust was created back in 2010 and has a life of the latter of 12/1/2030 or when 10.6million MMBoe have been produced from the underlying properties or 8.5million MMBoe or the 80% of the net proceeds available to the trust holders. I may be assuming too much by saying you are in this more for a trade than the distribution income. If I am wrong, do you know whether the distributions have been steady since they started paying? The website of the Brazilian Company that created this shows no information.
  • issues: @jan2138 $VOC If there was ever a perfect h & s (and I don't mean the shampoo) this is it.
  • bullmoose: @jan2138 Sorry for the late response. Since Q1 2012, $VOC been paying between a low of .26 (Q1 2013) to a high of .69 (Q2 2012). Since the .26, this quarter is the first it has been under .40, with the last three quarters prior being over .52. I bought it more for a semi-long-term hold than a quick trade. It had fallen to the 40-week average and held there. So, I bought it with a stop under that low of 14.64. It's a pretty low risk buy for a decent dividend. It has held this 40-week average since moving above it in June of 2013, having bounced off it 5 times since then, counting this time if it holds.
  • bullmoose: @issues $VOC - It's only a head and shoulders if it breaks below a long support line that's been in place since June of 2013. If it does that, I'm out anyways. I placed my stop under the 14.64 low of the week when I bought it, which is the 5th time it has tagged the 40-week since moving above it. Besides, I'm not quite sure where you see the H&S. I see a big drop since July, but I don't see any shoulders.
  • bullmoose: @jan2138 Dana, I'm raising that VGR partial stop once again. Always nice to be able to raise it every day as it keeps making higher lows. Sooner or later, and probably sooner rather than later as the rally is getting long in the tooth, I will be taken out of a portion of my shares. But I'll have plenty left to enjoy the dividend and will look to add on the next drop and bounce. With my high yielders, I always try to take off a little after a nice run, then add back more than I sold when it pulls back and bounces so that my position continues to grow. It's worked very well for me on stocks such as $BPT, $VOC, $WMC, $WHZ, $FTR and $WIN.
