  • kohli1: @scottrades $LFVN, C&H? Low risk swing entry ?
  • scottrades: @kohli1 $LFVN You'd want a stop just under yesterdays low.
  • mradams0621: $LFVN Another break out FAIL! Out.
  • mradams0621: $LFVN #FUNDY'S If someone with access to Marketsmith could take a quick look at this one I would appreciate it. Most want the "rating" Dan points out on stocks he likes. F.D. Long from the last time it was at this level, looking for exit, but the chart setup looks good to me for a break higher.
  • scottrades: @mradams0621 $LFVN #FUNDY Here you go.
  • mradams0621: @scottrades $LFVN #FUNDY Thanks muchly.
  • sierramp: @mradams0621 $LFVN #FUNDY I don't know if we're talking the same thing but the same RS Rating is on IBD. I like what MarketSmith has to offer though. One day maybe I'll be able to justify that subscription too.
  • mradams0621: $LFVN I like the charts. Good base of support, uptrend with golden 50/200 cross, maybe cup and handle on daily and weekly. If I squint my eyes I can define the box. My issue is the company. Business Summary-- "Life Vantage Corp is focused on bio-hacking the aging code through nutrigenomics----helping people with health, wellness and financial independence goals --- advanced nutraceutical dietary supplements and skin care products" , yada yada. I would sure like to know how you help people with financial independence goals using mouse milks and snake oils, or am I getting a bit cynical in my old age? Wish them luck with the "bio-hacking the ageing code" thing. Sounds promising. Maybe a bit too promising.
  • sierramp: @mradams0621 $LFVN That's interesting. I don't see the narrative about financial independence on the company's profile on Fidelity or on their website but even discounting that, they seem to have a pretty loose mission statement with their wide-ranging products for canines and humans. Micro Cap - $201M, short interest 6.8 days to cover. IBD's RS rating is 90. This one is dicey for my trading style but when the 50 crosses the 200 I might look at it again.
  • mradams0621: @sierramp $LFVN Thanks. Fidelity info looks better. Schwab's makes it sound strange. The 50/200 EMA cross was 4 days ago, SMA cross still a couple days away if this price holds. I assumed the business summary was provided by the company but the comparison of Fido and Schwab data proves that to be a faulty assumption on my part. Learned something today, which is always a good thing. Thanks again.
  • sierramp: @mradams0621 $LFVN I appreciate your post on $LFVN - it got me to research the stock. I'm doing @Dan's suggestion of writing down my job description this morning. Reviewing this stock helped to refine/confirm the description. Your reply also confirmed that I have the 50 day SMA set in Telechart so I learned something today as well. Thank you.
  • mradams0621: $LFVN up premarket 5% after squeeze and fail selloff. May have found support again, or not. Considering a #59 min gap and go hope double down trade to try to get out of it a bit higher. Long from the squeeze level higher. Note: Dan warned last week to get out of this one. Will I ever learn to listen to his warnings?
  • shoredriver: @mradams0621 $LFVN #59 ...Guess you also ignore him on doubling down.....
  • Henry: @mradams0621 $LFVN You might want to consider the total volume on this move is 15 https://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/lfvn/premarket
  • DAN: @mradams0621 $LFVN #59 Very thin stock. Averaging down is a bad habit to get into. If it works, great. But over time, you'll find that you're best to just take small losses and avoid the risk that they get too big to handle. Hope it works out, mradams0621.
  • mradams0621: $LFVN squeeze fail. didn't see it till just now. Now it's in oversold bounce territory so will give it till Monday and wish for a bit of a bounce to sell. Bummer.
  • KemoSabe: @mradams0621 $LFVN See no news, but it looks like it is beginning to drip out of a garden hose.

  • woodman: $LFVN - some odd moves at times, like last week, but still works. I've remained long this one.
  • woodman: $LFVN - crazy action yesterday, with big bearish engulfing, but it bounced off the 50 day, and the chart and uptrend are still intact. I didn't sell yesterday.
  • KemoSabe: @woodman $LFVN I missed this stock earlier, but did get in yesterday at the 50 day. Glad I did, just hope that it stays steady. Saw no news to cause the drastic drop yesterday.
  • spmeyers: $LFVN reversing badly; stopped out
  • KemoSabe: $LFVN - You have to believe that lots of stops have been taken out. Has fallen all the way back to the 50 day support. Might be time to take a small bite.
  • mopick: @KemoSabe $LFVN, I didn't see any news on this, did you?
  • mradams0621: @KemoSabe $LFVN would like to know the news first. Somethings going on. That's not just normal profit taking in a stock that the big boys have been building positions in for a while. Todays candle looks just like the one Aug 13, 2018. Just guessing here, but was that a run up into e's, then sell off just prior to report by insiders? Could that be happening again? History may not repeat itself but offen rymes? I'm still hanging on, now in the red, bummer. Let another small profit turn into a loss.
  • PJMR11: @mradams0621 $LFVN Took a small bite with a tight stop.
  • KemoSabe: @mopick $LFVN I see no news. Just looks like when it could not hold the new high and started to slip, many decided to take the money and run. Earning not until Feb. 4. Other than that, I know nothing. If it can hold 13 - 13.50, it may set up for another run.

  • mradams0621: $LFVN Looked like a good e's report yesterday to me but the market sold it. Looking better today so far. What are you doing with this? • djmurph: $LFVN I think I have an unhealthy obsession with this stock, but is it too late to buy? I know @Dan said in the SS last night that it could run to $17 (or beyond), but it still feels like I'd be chasing at this point. The more I think I know the less I realize I do.

  • djmurph: @gmj $LFVN Thanks for the replies on this. Glad I stayed out (for now).
  • djmurph: $LFVN I think I'm done trying to figure this one out. Another major drop just after 11:00 and then bounces back up to the opening print. Need to work on setting stops. If I'd have set mine $.01 lower I'd still be in.
  • eperin: @djmurph $LFVN low volume stocks. You can get whiplash!
  • rachel: STRATEGY SESSION NOTES 121018 COTD: $AAPL – oversold rebound. Look for short term rally, within a more pervasive downtrend. Notes: You should be trading as if you had 25% of the money you really do. And then trade small. $SPX – dragonfly doji. Short term reversal. $DJI – intraday reversal. Look for rebound tomorrow. $DJT – oversold rebound. $MDY – rebound $IWM – rebound $NDX –higher low. Volatility: What is it? How do you know if a stock is volatile? Potential rebounds: $FIVE – support at 200-day MA. High volume. $INSP—inside day. $SQ – higher low. But this is setting up for a short if the stock rallies another day or two, and then falls. $LFVN – Two major intraday reversals in last 3 days. Looking like a flag pattern. $TWTR – Needs to tighten up a lot. $ISRG – swing trade off 200-day MA.

  • ypj1948: Should we buy $LFVN.? It has gone up nearly 6% today on more than average volume. If we do buy, what should be the stop?
  • woodman: @ypj1948 $LFVN - much riskier to buy it now, IMO.
  • indigo1948: @woodman $LFVN - agree with Woodman - risk is high at this level - if anything it may present a shorting opportunity for Monday depending on the close.
  • CHOFF: @ypj1948 $LFVN - it's up 17% in 2 days. Nice for those who got it early.
  • woodman: @CHOFF $LFVN - Fo sho. That's a big move. When you miss it, you miss it - it is what it is. I hate chasing. At this point, I'd wait for a pullback to test the breakout and then buy on a successful test/move back up. And if it doesn't come back, oh well. There are other fish in the sea.
  • djmurph: $LFVN Would anyone able to explain why this dropped so drastically at 2:11 p.m. ET? NP but I've been watching it over the last couple of days b/c of all the talk about it (Minervini tweeted about a position he took), and while I can understand the drop in general, I'm genuinely curious as to why this would happen at this time? Is it just the east coast traders getting back from lunch and seeing that it dropped a bit from when they left so they started selling too? I imagine that drop shook a lot of people out, but maybe that was the point? Still trying to figure a lot of this stuff out so any insight anyone can provide would be welcome. Thanks!
  • spmeyers: @djmurph $LFVN it's best to not try too hard to figure out the moves; kind of a waste of mental energy
  • djmurph: @spmeyers $LFVN Thanks spmeyers. I've only got a little of that energy to begin with so that's good advice. I got dinged a while ago on a similar move and have been curious since.
  • woodman: @djmurph $LFVN - Like I posted earlier today when someone asked about buying the breakout today on Day 2 of it, it was high risk to buy it today. Breakouts are hard to buy in this Market. Many have not worked or haven't worked for long. You have to get them early or forget them, IMO. I'm more comfortable buying them after they pullback and successfully (or at least appear to successfully) test the breakout level and bounce.
  • issues: @woodman $LFVN Thanks to you Woody I sold it before it dropped to where it is now.

  • woodman: $LFVN - Out of this.
  • woodman: $LFVN small scale phase 3? It held the 8dEMA. Mostly has just been consolidating. It had a little breakout and a little pullback, now moving again in the right direction. Not exactly blowing the doors off, but it is holding up and slowly moving up.
