Not trying to argue with Yoda / the master but just pointing out what I'm observing and looking for the wisdom of others. Tracking gapers list. Observations: Gapers that begin with good news plus opening gap trade with unusually high volume plus morning pull back can make good set ups for short term day bounce and swing trades. From yesterdays list, as examples, $FI, $LL, $PCRX, $VRX, $KTOV Will $ARRY follow the pattern? I'm keeping track. Usually have other duties during the open and can't do the 59min trades. But bounce trades mid-morning are looking more interesting. How to determine when to swing overnight vrs day trade would be nice to know. Some work, some not so much. Still gathering data.

- grcjr: Regarding $FI ATP - I am mostly using the old version. It feels slower to me, particularly placing orders and updating limit prices. There are things in the new version I asked for, primarily do something more to support #options trading. The old version was to the point where it was sinking under its own weight. It was obviously not threaded, poor memory usage, and old windows window management. I just hope they improve the new versions enough that I can survive a discontinuation of the old version that I rely on.
- grcjr: VWAP is not an indicator $FI gives me access to. With the new ATP I can get VAMA (Volume Adjusted Moving Average). I do not yet know the difference in practice.
- hooked1: $FI - Worth watching. IPO strategy in the oil drilling sector. It has pulled back to the 50 day which has recently been established.
- tennisaddict: $FI @woodman; It's a bit jiggy today. Off and on problems but generally well behaved.
- grcjr: Great day for catching up on stops/alerts, paperwork, chart analysis ... not placed a single trade (as of this time). $FI should be calling anytime now to see if I'm awake.
- grcjr: SMM videos - sometimes clearing history and/or cache will help. I recently had a problem with the $FI site. Clearing history cleared the problem.
- grcjr: $TWO SBY @jan2138 - $FI is not posting yet. $FI says distribution officially on 4/24, record date 4/2. Claims they are trading in the open market and other brokers might have purchased some to service their clients but for $FI clients ... wait for 4/24. $SBY is up nicely today. $TWO is down. No big surprises. @Dana, I believe you are selling just $SBY which is my decision also.

- grcjr: $AAPL @wijimmy - $FI claims $AAPL x-div is this week, Wednesday, 11/7. The Apple site www.apple.com/investor says "On October 25, 2012, Apple's Board of Directors declared a cash #dividend of $2.65 per share of the Company's common stock. The #dividend is payable on November 15, 2012, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 12, 2012."
- grcjr: $AAPL @nasada - $FI reports that the short interest in $AAPL is 1.61%, requiring only .83 days to cover.
- grcjr: @taylor option commissions - $FI normally charges $7.95 + $.75 per contract. You may be able to negotiate lower. In the standard pricing small print it states something like ... if you are closing an option and the option price is less than (might be less/equal) $.65 then you only pay the $7.95 with no kicker. I've used this to close some of my short call/put positions. My rate is less than $7.95 but the $.75/contract seems to be non-negotiable. It really impacts my ability to sell Calls and Puts. - grcjr: VIX @taylor - couple $FI items. $FI ATP shows the Dec #options date as 12/19 which is clearly wrong. It also does not show a 14 Put. It does show 10, 15, 16, ... . Manually attempting to enter the correct date in my order window does not work. Manual entry also rejects Dec 22. Oh well. $FI is contacting their "vendor". Thanks for your posts.

- grcjr: $FB lock time - the lock time depends on your broker. Someone earlier this week posted that $FI had a 14 day lock. I have not verified this for FI.

I know I am guilty sometimes of being cryptic in my respones. As Liz very well points out, there are no stupid questions. And followup questions can generate better responses. Yes, Active Trader Pro has some "official" reauirements. There also are t ... - lclarkc: @Michael - You should be able to do all the same trades on the Web version. I find that if you are not day trading you can accomplish the same thing. I use TOS for charts and trade one account and use $FI web for trading another account. You generally can't place a trailing stop too close to current prices.

- georgercarrjr: $FI ATP stalled for me a couple times today. It is usually a network issue. The tool relies too much on network connection. High volume times can be a problem and that's when you need it the most.
- dunsek: Bond question- looking for some input from people who know fixed income. I picked up a chunk of the 30 year T-Bond at the end of June and I'm up about 7.5% on it as of today. I picked it up as a bit of a portfolio hedge and it's worked well so far. But, I'm not a bond-ie by nature and although I have a decent understanding of the macro issues, I don't have my finger on the pulse of the $FI market and where it's likely to head in the short/medium term. If you do, I'd appreciate any feedback on where you think the long bond market is likely to go and why. I'm long the 4.375% 05/15/40 @ 107.16
