  • JosephM: $DLB..alert
  • Orange-Green: Watching $SAP $DLB $AZO $AB this am
  • DrScience: @Rockstar $DLB You could add here with a stop on the added shares below today's low. The assumption is that buyers are coming into the stock after it made its early-morning low and now the higher low should hold. Otherwise, you don't want to be in the stock. Having said all that, momentum has turned on the stock, and lower prices are possible. Adhere to your stops.
  • Rockstar: @DrScience $DLB TY
  • 1993dean: Dan any thoughts on @AMZN and $DLB Thank you
  • bigbartabs: @1993dean $DLB ... Dan might not see your post. He will if you put a "@" in front of DAN... and a "$" in front of AMZN. Not sure just how he searches... but @ on names, and $ on tickers is the protocol. All the best... good luck...
  • DAN: @1993dean $DLB I'm not familiar with $DLB. It's popped out of a squeeze, but it looks to me like today would likely be the end of Phase 1. As for $AMZN -- I just shorted it.
  • scottrades: Consider moving a partial stop up on $DLB to LOD.
  • scottrades: My video notes for tonight: $SPY Touched an ATH, but Choppy. $QQQ The Gap up killed the fun. $GDX What is this even doing? $DDOG I’ll wait for this to build a base. $STZ Weekly Trigger $FNV Use yesterday's low to define your risk $LW Low Volume but going in the right direction. $SRCL Tight and trying to move out of a base. 12 Days of Short interest. $AEO Tight and holding at the 50 Day. A little Short interest (4 Days). $RUN Working, but too Late to buy imo. $DLB Pretty extended. Consider moving your stop up. $CBZ Tight Squeeze $CLBK Popping out of a Squeeze $FEYE Watch for a snapback tomorrow. It’s right at the 200 Day AH.

  • derda: @scottrades $DLB what do u think about $DLB?can initiate a position rhrn?
  • scottrades: @derda $DLB The better entry came at the open. If you're buying here you'd want a stop just below 70.
  • derda: @scottrades $DLB better to wait for a pullback for a better entry?
  • scottrades: @derda $DLB I'd wait for a hourly pullback now. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your note back.
  • scottrades: $DLB Trying to #Squeeze above a base. Support at the 50 Day.

  • MSL: $LNKD 59 $ST, I am not familiar w the movement of $DLB, but am familiar w $LNKD and I know it rips in either direction. I was looking at the daily chart for $LNKD and all time high at 123 for an IPO strategy. When it first IPO'd it opened in the 80s and ripped up to 120s, was anyone trading it that day? I remember watching it. I am of the mind that $FB will have a similar trade dynamic when it IPOs.

  • futurepants: $ARMH - I would recommend waiting to buy this one. There is seriously formidable resistance between $30 and $32. If we get a breakout on the weekly chart, believe me, there will be PLENTY of time to get involved. Is jut doesn't make sense to me to "build a position" right below long term resistance! My suggestion is to buy a small "@tracker" position right away... but then watch and wait before adding anything significant. Edit: Imagine "building a position" in $DLB around december of last year...very similar looking chart. How would that have worked out? ;-) -fp
  • rippashred: $DLB - Anyone think I would be crazy to buy some shares of Dolby #RHRN? I have been watching this for over a year, too afraid to touch the stock. Well at these levels, the fundamentals seem reasonable...dare I say cheap? Zero debt, $8/share in cash and the growth rate (26% according to my Worden screen) to get excited about. What do my fellow SMMers think about the chart? I also view this as a play on intellectual property. Thanks in advance. -LY
  • rippashred: $DLB - @eleKtra - thanks for the IBD score. Thanks for putting things in perspective.
  • eleKtra: $DLB, Of course it may still go up, but I prefer to buy stocks that have decent fundamentals in stronger sectors since the mkt is so hard to trade these days. May as well choose the strong ones. I have traded $DLB before, and made a little $, but that was quite awhile ago.
  • futurepants: $DLB - I used to work for these guys. Love the company, love their technology, love the people, love the balance sheet. But I wouldn't buy that stock now with someone else's money! :) -fp

  • futurepants: Volume of Commercials (DLB) - Just to make this a little more on topic, perhaps the company that could benefit is Dolby Labs, maker of the LM-100 Broadcast Loudness Meter. This is the industry standard device they currently use to measure movie trailer volumes w/ respect to the actual movie trailer. If TV or radio stations are going to be required to monitor their broadcasts in the same way, this is likely what they'd use. All that said, the market sure didn't agree w/ $DLB stock today ;-) http://www.dolby.com/professional/products/broadcast/test-and-measurement/lm100.html -fp
  • JasonCassis: Over history, the further a stock is extended from its 200 day $MA the higher the probability of reversion to the mean. Therefore although the 50 day ma is most often the first stop on the way down, I utilize the 200 day for a sense of how extended the top may be. In this case it is very extended. Having said that I certainly have been wrong in the past however it worked well with Cree and $DLB as of late, so I see $CRM as a relevant target at this point as well.
  • joanie: $DLB -- I took a short on Dolby this morning. It had a double top and there's a volatility expansion to the downside. It's currently riding the lower BB. If it goes below 58.75 I'll be adding to my position. Possible target is the 200, which hasn't been relevant since $DLB started it's ascent in Oct 09.
  • joanie: $DLB - stopped out. I know I kept the stop too tight, but I don't want to take any losses just because I'm late to the party or just too eager to short.
  • mangano: $DLB - I am new to the forum and would like some advice on Dolby. Is anyone following this stock? It appears that there is an ascending triangle pattern from April 29th. Is there another pattern that fits better? I have had good fortunes with this stock around earnings however my approach this time is to look for a more technical approach to this purchase.
  • mangano: $DLB - @patricia_ann, I would agree that the long term indicators are good. I have used this stock for short term trades around earnings since it was around 35. I agree that it will either stall until the SMAs catch up or bounce off recent resistance of ~69. I have a small position and am looking to see it break out.

For example, the 10 minute chart of $DFT or $DLB shows a clear uptrend that makes the action on 5/25 look like something of an outlier. On the other hand, MICC looks more like it is establishing a downtrend, at least more than I can see from the dai ...
  • fishpatience: $DLB I just gotta bring to y'alls attention and consideration. After Thurs earnings, Dolby Lags was up almost 10% in Friday big downdraft. It's probably too late, but it certainly is good to see a stock swim upriver that strongly on a miserable day! QUESTION: with $BIDU splitting, 10/1, can $GOOG be far behind at 10/1?? Thanks - have a great weekend - and let's pull for a positive Monday. Don't need no more downside!!! bill
  • eleKtra: $DLB (Dolby) Anyone watching this? Long #squeeze and started to turn up last week and a gap today, great looking weekly chart although maybe better to buy on a pullback from this gap (or will it be a runaway gap?)
  • tleinad: $DLB - Big "beat and raise" yesterday with analyst upgrades right behind it today. Your call on whether there will be a better entry.
  • fishpatience: $DLB Have been in $DLB for a few weeks; believe I started it as a VolSqz; well pleased. Hope it continues.
  • fishpatience: $DLB Thanks for IDing this one - really tight #squeeze; think I'll try an entry. bill
  • HGIGuy: $DLB - watch earnings 4/29
  • HGIGuy: $DLB - coming into a fairly tight volatility #squeeze after consolidating for a month.
  • ralpho: $DLB Is there anyone else who is following Dolby? This holdover from my life PDFSMM (Pre @Dan Fitzpatrick and SMM) is in the Winner's Circle, but seems to be moving slowly. Not sure whether $DLB should be held or sold on the next rise. Thank you.
  • gamiller: $DLB - Zoom out. Anything wrong with the weekly chart?
  • ralpho: $DLB gamiller The weekly looks much better to me than the daily. Thanks for changing my perspective. Will hold with loose stops for the time being.
  • vze2n77d: $OTEX, $MEAS, $DLB, RBI: Holding up very well post earnings in a weak market. Probably wouldn't touch them here. Does anyone have research on any of these. I know that $DLB is a Motely Fool favorite.
