  • issues: I just had to sell $ACMR. Nothing can go up forever. Nice profit. I bought $UCTT and $ASYS. Holding $ENTG and $TER over earnings tonight. ALso holding $ADAP $APLT $AVDL $APTO. Biotech has fallen to IBD industry group 2. Anybody know what's group 1?
  • bknpdx: @issues $ACMR $UCTT $ASYS $ENTG $TER $ADAP $APLT $AVDL $APTO Hi @issues - Biotech is still ranked #1 of the IBD industry Groups. #2 is Auto Mfg.; #3 is Wholesale Electronics.
  • hoodwink: $ASYS..Hello All...I am a new member..Would like an opinion on a long position in $ASYS..I asked the same yesterday but got no response..Thanks
  • steve71: @hoodwink $ASYS Welcome to the board. Likely that no one has a particular opinion on this stock. You could ask Dan to review it.
  • johnprtl: @hoodwink $ASYS I had a look at it in MarketSmith. I see it has an average volume of 3,600 shares a day. That's *really* speculative, if you owned it and wanted to sell, you might not find any buyers. Only negative earnings in the last 2 years. They could turn out to be something wonderful, but publicly available data looks scary.
  • DAN: @steve71 $ASYS Company reports earnings November 19th. Semiconductor company in solar industry. Chart looks amazingly like $TAN, the ETF. Seems to be turning around, but I don't really follow it. VERY thin!! only 20k shares traded today, so you are really stepping into a shallow pool. Stock needs to stay above $29.
  • gbrock: @hoodwink $ASYS Welcome to the Forum. This stock is too thinly traded for me and is down in the right hand bottom of the chart. Ask yourself this, "What is going to push this stock to my target price? Who am I going to sell to when stock meets my target?" I see a lot of sellers that want to sell on any jump in price. If determined to buy, enter with small position and decided in advance when you will sell and when you will add. Good Luck!
  • hoodwink: @hoodwink Sorry , I am new....$asys
  • Tim S: Notable earnings after Tuesday's close $ADI, $ASYS, $AVAV, $BLOX, $GAME, $HPQ, $TIVO, ZLC
  • snmtraders: $FSLR - Read a good article in Barrons this past weekend by an analyst who has been spot on with respect to the solar companies -- @Gordon Johnson. He remains bearish on these based on several factors. He even mentioned @Warren Buffet's foray into solar noting that it was based on special government incentives that made it worthwhile for his company to invest, but not for an individual. (Yes, this from the man who believes he should be paying more taxes -- hmm! do as i say not as i do). Johnson has a short on $FSLR, MYBUF, $ASYS and PPO.
  • ridgerunr: $ASYS, started here, multi month base
  • ridgerunr: $ASYS monster day
  • Dave: ...
The following stocks met the screening criteria, but for reasons like low trading volume, revised lower guidance, expected negative $EPS next year, or some other reason, they didn't seem like they should be included: $NFLX, $RBCN, $SPRD, $ASYS, $EB ...
  • SABIN: ASYS-mentioned zacks put $ASYS in oversold region yesterday.Today $ASYS affirms 2011 outlook,its moving up.
  • jemcbrid: $ASYS - I own it as IBD thinks it is great too. It may take time but it moves up fast. I was surprised it got oversold.
  • OPTIONSWEALTH: $ASYS - Overhead is the 50day sma at 25.81
  • jemcbrid: $ASYS - I agree it has resistance but it had record earnings and guidance great, but shorts (I'm guessing) put it down 7.8% after earnings. That makes it something in a good company to buy. Of course, others may not see that.
  • C.K.: $ASYS - That $60mln shelf offering seems to be the reason $ASYS is not moving and sold off after great earnings. $ASYS just confirmed the robust guidance for Q2 and FY11 this morning. The company is obviously not happy about the sell off in their stock either since they reported earnings. I'm tempted to enter a long small position at this level. I really don't see much more downside unless they use the shelf offering and price low to get attraction to buy. ck
  • jemcbrid: $ASYS - Anybody think this is a buying opportunity? It is a great stock and great earnings. It did put $60M mixed securities offer out after earnings.
  • chelton: $ASYS Reported nice earnings, in the news a bit today. a peripheral play on semi/solar. A " mine the miners" approach to that space. Nice chart. Got in at 28. anyone else in on this one?
  • rah: Petroleum Sector # The sector is strong and a few opportunities are presenting. Anyone looking? Petr. (machine & equipment), Petr. (Field Services), Petr. (Drilling) are the top industries in the sector. Some interesting charts include: $INT # World Fuel Serv. # 38.00 (up ~ 1%) # decent volume x 2 days, Moving up out of a Vol. #Squeeze. $WLT # Walter Energy # 140.00 (up 2.10%) # good volume x 2 days, Moving up above the 20dma. Looks like the middle of a consolidation range or a move up from a higher low off the lower BB. Others of interest: $ASYS , $OIS , $HES , $MRO - not a good buy points, but doing well, worth a watch. Richard
  • italmike: $ASYS Earnings I guess, appears to have kicked a little arse
  • JW: $ASYS coming alive. Good volume in a #squeeze. Just rising above the 20 ma.
  • freddy77: $ASYS Please Don't lose sight of this one, looks to me like bullish flag and if market is strong this thing will run I believe Of course I could be wrong :o) Freddy
  • ridgerunr: $ASYS Big move on huge volume, not chasing but one to watch for set up
  • sjdave: ??? on $ASYS move today. I sold my position on $ASYS this morning. The pre-market news moved the stock higher at the open, but it didn't hold the open and moved lower after the first few minutes. I didn't expect the stock to rally in the afternoon on huge volume. What happen? Was this move and volume the day traders buying when it took out the day's high, or did some media person tout the stock? I sold because I saw a nice profit at the open and didn't trust the market today. Also, this stock is thin and hasn't closed well recently. I understand the buy over day's high for traders, but how does someone long the stock before the open define their risk and not get stopped out? Thanks, Dave BTW, love the Evening thread idea!
  • LaurieAnn: ASYS- @sjdave, Well, if you sold this morning you did miss the big afternoon move, however you probably took some really nice profits from the last several days. The announcement of their orders for Q1 were 50+million huge giving a big boost to the stock. $ASYS has had a pretty nice run but if you zoom out it could be just starting. I'm not sure if you are trading in halves, thirds or quarters but you may want to look at selling partial positions and then stops on the rest. I frequently sell too early so this is just a little $.02. LA
  • gloria: $ASYS - this stock has been on the move since mid December when it shot up on news of a large order. It's been trading in a narrow range since then, until this a.m. news. Yesterday it bounced off it's low at the middle bollinger band (20 day moving avg). And yesterdays low of 10.25 was still above the previous low of 10.l4 on Dec. 28. That's where I had an alert set. I've now set that alert at 11.31 - today's low. The only thing I could see this afternoon, was that it was mentioned in Dow Jones "US Hot Stocks" a couple of times today. I also was expecting it to sell off at the close from all the early a.m. buyers, but it obviously didn't.
  • sjdave: $ASYS Is this stock building a base to move higher? I have a small position I bought before joining this group. I'm getting concerned that the stock can't close near the high of the day. Today was a terrible close. I am using 10.14 as my mental stop, but I'm wondering if I should move that up to 10.70. The stock is thin and I don't want to get taken out on a quick dip, but I don't want to get stuck selling below 10 if it drops hard. Any thoughts on the chart of ASYS? Thanks, Dave
  • don6699: $ASYS (Newbie Me) Or back fill the gap up??? Seen this happen before, check for volume, who owns stock, and the rest of the home work.
