Over at OMM, we opened one new long-term (bullish) call spread on a beat-up technology position on Monday. We closed out the one short (bullish) put position expiring Friday for a 91% profit in six days and also took our first target of 50% profits ... - joelsg1: $DBA Check out this Ag Fund, definition of extended and parabolic, saw this yesterday but forgot it.
- ray: $WEAT $CORN $DBA Opened small starter positions in these. There was a fairly large fire (since contained) this morning at the port of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. This is one of Russia's largest ports in that area. After the Russia-Ukraine Black Sea Grain deal was not renewed last month, incidents of each country targeting ships and ports in the Black Sea has increased. I'm looking at this as potentially a short or intermediate-term trade.
- bhaden1: @debeers Love your summaries and comments! I am only in oil and gas stocks and a small position in $DBA. I read all of your posts and just publicly saying a big thank you for all your hard work in here to all of our benefit!
- woodman: $DBA - testing long term rising support. No position.
- gt: @scottrades $DBC $DBA and watching for $DBA to hold and turn up in this neighbourhood
- woodman: @scottrades $DBC - Indeed, it's been a stalwart in an otherwise terrible market. (See also $DBA $DBE among the DB's))
- Henry: @jaaron2 @Scottrades @Forexpro #ETH $DBA Welcome to the forum. Our convention is to put @ in front of peoples' names $ in front of stock symbols and # in front of #Crypto. Keep an eye out for @Forexpro's post. He is a retired forex trader and frequently makes pithy comments on interest rates. $DBA ag holding are futures in corn, sugar, coffee, https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DBA/holdings?p=DBA ETF's with futures have slipage when they have to roll their contracts to the next month. I don't understand how $DE and #fertilizers are going to the moon, when farmers aren't going to have money for fertilizer and equipment.
- Babutters: @Henry $DBA $DE #ETH #Crypto #fertilizers agreed. I’ve been reading about ranchers who aren’t even planting this year because they can’t afford it.
- Pokersmith: Ukraine's grain export situation worsening by the day, says agriculture minister Ukraine's new agriculture minister Mykola Solskyi on Saturday said Ukraine's ability to export grains was getting worse by the day and would only improve if the war with Russia ends. Speaking in a televised briefing, Solskyi said Ukraine, one of the world's top grain producers, would normally be exporting 4-5 million tonnes of grain per month - a volume that has fallen to just a few hundred-thousand tonnes. "The impact (on global markets) is direct, dramatic and large. And it continues. Every day the situation will become more and more difficult," he said see: $WEAT, $DBA , $MOO ( and top ten holdings )

- woodman: @bigbartabs $DBA $DBC - I've been riding DBC. It's been easy ride up but this week, wow. Five straight days of gaps up. Keeping it simple - oil and gas, coal, ag inputs, metals/mining. And timed leveraged short ETFs.

- woodman: @Pokersmith $DBB - Nice work! The DB* family is doing well. $DBC $DBA too. I sold most of my $DBC on the two gaps up this week, but it continues to hold gaps.
- Pokersmith: @woodman $DBB $DBC $DBA love the DBC trade you made 👍 …..didn't pull the trigger unfortunately. I didn't have the sand, it was extended a bit and my thinking at the time was that metals would be less volatile than oil. 🤷♂️
- woodman: @Pokersmith $DBB $DBC $DBA - DBC quite extended now. I want to see how it closes. Depending on the action, I may buy some back using today's intraday low for my stop reference to protect against a downward gap fill. I suppose good news could have me waking up looking at the prospect of my stop getting wiped out, but where is the good news going to come from in the short term?

Forexpro: Re: $DBA
Hi, Friends,
Not that confidence is all that high, but my primary approach is to buy uptrending stocks when they have reached a pivot high and subsequently pulled back to between the 38.2 and 50 percent retracement levels. Over the years, ... - Alexandra: @Forexpro $DBA You're so strict Forexpro!!! 😏
- Forexpro: @Alexandra $DBA It gets too expensive otherwise, Alexandra. :)
- Alexandra: @Forexpro $DBA I give lots of verbal warnings. Doesn't seem to scare them.
- cmac: Important breakout yesterday on agricultural products. $DBA is the most popular etf - I personally prefer $JJG since it doesn't issue a k-1. Let's see if it can hold the 200sma, which has acted as resistance (now support ?). These etf's may be good inflation hedges, as well as being an alternative investment if you want some commodity exposure.

- ogas: $DBA - trying to jump the 50ma for the first time since December 2014.
- ogas: $DBA - higher high, higher low?
- bullmoose: $KATE - I wish I was active in the forum today and at my trading desk, because once $KATE fell below the opening print, I would have been buying puts. Instead, I check my portfolio late this afternoon to see a big chunk taken out on the calls purchased over the last couple days in $TMO and $FB, and the common in ANR. My $DBA calls took a big hit over the past couple days too. They look ready to fall out of a slight squeeze to the downside so I may need to dump them tomorrow. $IBM and $JCP took hits too. I bought some $VXX mid-day with a stop under yesterday's lows. And, Thanks Tricia and all those who recommended TKMR a few days ago. I took very nice profits yesterday and again this morning. Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.
-
bullmoose: $GPRO, $APA, $KNDI, $CBDS, $MDY, $VXX, $COMM, $DBA - These are what's working for me today.
I bought $VXX on Friday and Sept 255puts on $MDY yesterday morning. They are strong performers today.
This morning I added to my $KNDI shares as it is attem ... - bullmoose: $TLT, $QQQ, $DBA - $TLT continues to be a great long trade. I thought it was going to head back down to the 20-day yesterday, but it bounced today without getting there. It's breaking out of a tight high consolidation. I recently added more to my Jan 115 calls when it bounced off the 20-day last week. Yesterday I bought some Aug 97 QQQ puts that have worked out nicely today. I will look to cover those on Monday with a test of the 20-day on this pullback. 3-day rule. I have an order that hasn't been filled yet to buy $DBA Jan 26 calls. The recent pullback has found support at the 40-week.
- bullmoose: $DBA - Breaking out
- bullmoose: $DBA, $DBC, $CORN - Commodities are making good moves today. $DBA is at the top of a channel now. Look for it to break out or wait for a pullback to the bottom of the channel. $DBC is breaking above it's channel and can be bought. I use calls to add more opportunity for gains. $CORN is attempting to break out of a little consolidation. Could have been bought this morning. Look for any opportunity near the 20-day.
- woodman: $DBA - bought some.
- gtrguy: $CORN - Tasty chart! nice saucer forming over last 6 mos. Tagged the 200dma this morning. Came close to the 200 a couple weeks back. I am in this as a long term trade, so for me if it fails at the 200 and just drifts lower, I may add to my position. $DBA has already had a huge move, I'm thinking (and yeah, I may be wrong) $CORN will play catch-up. Especially once it clears the 200. Thoughts!
- gtrguy: $DBA @woodman - watching Fast Money final trades are we? ;^) @Steve's long Citi trad - anyone think this is a good trade? Just for a bounce?
- woodman: $DBA @gtrguy - LOL!! I was watching $DBA and some other commodities today, teetering on the edge, then @Josh Brown mentioned it as his final trade and it pushed me over the edge.
- emi: #Financials - what a beating! Sold GS. Sold the rest of DFS. Love the stock but I'll buy it back later. Sold quite a few things. Curious that agribusiness stocks pulling back while $DBA is chugging on up. Good for farmers. Someone said $AAPL is not correlated to the S&P. It didn't get hit today.
- jolinla: $POT I bought some LEAPS today because the sector seems to be waking up. The SMM session mentioned this and $AGU has also been one of the OMM acquisitions. $IPI is still below the #200sma and in a downtrending channel but $CF is moving, $DOW is stro ...
- Ellen@NYC: $POT - Good article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/10674804/Ukraine-why-what-Putin-does-next-could-affect-us-all.html Most of Ukraine's wheat and corn comes from Russia, so news of sanctions could push up $DBA, as U.S. companies would step in to fill Ukraine's gap. I'm still watching and learning, as if paper trading, just because I'm in other things at the moment. Thanks for the responses! I'm following even though don't have time to post often.
- ogas: $DBA -I know that coffee is going ballistic, but other than coffee, does anyone know why $DBA keeps going up?
- boba: $DBA - Thanks for pointing this $ETF out to me. Here is a "more then you need to know" article on food prices. If California doesn't get @rain food prices are going to go through the roof. http://seekingalpha.com/article/2043283-agri-food-prices-new-high?source=yahoo
- jolinla: $AGU This is showing an engulfing candle and a move above the 200 sma at the moment. Other ag chemicals all over the place. $CF popped, $YONG dropped down to the 50 sma, $DBA another engulfing open candle after yesterday's pop. $CGA probably has hit the bottom. $POT, $IPI and $MON continue to wait in the penalty box.
- ogas: $DBA - anyone have an opinion on this ETF? It's been a dud for a long time now but is perking up.
- Forexpro: Re: $DBA, @Ogas Hi, @Ogas, Well, it has broken out of the doldrums. FWIW, it looks to me to be in a bit of a consolidation box at the moment, and the shape of the Cloud suggests that a break back to the downside is more likely than a further extension to the upside. The upper edge of the cloud would be expected to provide support on a pullback. I'd be hesitant to take more than a small position, but it is one to watch. Thanks for sharing the idea. http://scharts.co/1iYJjNx Here's hoping that you're doing well; all the best.
- ogas: $DBA - anyone know why this has been going parabolic?
- rtomczak: $DBA @ogas - Maybe the drought conditions in the West that will raise food prices.
- chuckd: $DBA @ogas, @rtomczak - not just the drought out here. We had a @freeze earlier in the year and the estimated losses were announced yesterday. Large losses in citrus due to 3-day @freeze. Dollar figure escapes me at the moment but if it seems relevant I am sure it is easily findable.
- philharmonic: $DBA @ogas Article in todays Wall Street Journal "The 68-32 Senate vote capped a hard-fought battle to pass the first comprehensive farm policy package since 2008, shifting how Washington provides agriculture support and making relatively modest changes to nutrition programs."
- pauluk: CORN@msb Thanks for the heads up on CORN. As an alternative, $DBA is a play on a broader range of commodities. It trades with a little more volume and has made a decisive breakout move over the last couple of trading sessions (possibly helped by its Coffee component - check out coffee ticker @JO - massive move due to news out of Brazil)

- aloha808: $POT @jorma @bethany, how much of the move in $POT,IPI,$MON will be affected by the ag commodities themselves? Looking at a chart of $DBA for example. Just curious to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance, -aloha.
- Chucky: $MOS - keeps bouncing off 200 SMA on Daily. Weekly looking for a break on strong volume at 63.75. Currently own the Sep 62.5 calls 3-3.15. $POT - looking at the 50,100 #200SMA support to hold on daily. Weekly 41.02 looks like support. No position yet. $IPI - might becoming out of a small base on daily. Overhead resistance 19-20. Have alerts set for a break above 20 or pullback to 18 for entry. Ag stocks hanging in today. Have been the laggards. I am focusing on the ETF's $MOO and $DBA for signs as well.
- ogas: $DBA - been watching this $ETF for a long time waiting for the turn around. It may be doing that now. There is a tiny higher high, and higher low. Personally, I would like a little more confirmation so I am not jumping in yet. If you believe that agriculture stocks will be performing well this year, keep an eye on DBA.
- ogas: $DBA - I have been watching this $ETF for a long time. I figured that it had to turn around at some point given the "anticipated" bullishness in this sector. It is still down but today is the first day in 10 that there is a higher low. In addition, it is the first day in 8 days that it is inside the Bollinger Bands. Looking at the weekly chart, maybe this will be a higher low. In my opinion, there is no hurry to get into this but I feel it is worth watching for a turn-around.
- ginny: $DBA good idea to watch. This is $BBT thesis. Buy the $ETF funds at support and sleep at night. I have a starter in $POT looking to buy an upside call on DE.
- wesley: $DBA stansburry out bullish on march 27 calls

- woody: DBA-good morning everyone- any opinion on buying $DBA as an agricultural play? It was recommended on #CNBC by Beeks. Trying to find a good site to check on its holdings.
- njnewbie: $DBA - @woody from Fidelity - as of today Top 10 Index Components (Total Holdings: 10) $S Soybean 14.15% CC Cocoa 12.70% KC Coffee 'C' 12.48% W Wheat 11.88% LC Live Cattle 11.66% FSB Sugar 11.40% $C Corn 9.87% $LH Lean Hogs 8.29% $FC Feeder Cattle 4.23% CT Cotton No. 2 3.34
- Aragorn: $DBA - @Woody - you can always got to Yahoo finance and pull up the etf and you can see the top 10 holdings. I would like 29.50 o hold as his is a longer level of support going way back but quite relevant with lots of touches at this level. Also the 8ema has been regained on the daily and you do not want this trading below that. Watch the 21ema and see if it can get through that or if it acts as resistance. It has made the move and is now consolidating for the last 2 months. The 50 sma overhead may be resistance as well and that is starting to turn down which can be problematic for further increases.
- Poet: Sectors - Since @Dan did not review the sectors this weekend, I was forced to do it myself. Good - I suppose. I looked at the price action, V.S. and breakout (or not, by @Dan's definition), and money flow. They broke down into 3 general categories: HOT: V.S. and breakout plus $ flow in, COLD: pretty much flat or down with $ flow out, and TEPID: generally flat with flat $ flow. Here's how they came out for me. HOT: $XLV, $SPY, $XLF, $XLY, $MDY, $XRT, $IJR, $IBB, XOP; plus I gave $XLK a WARM for mild V.S, mild breakout and some $ flow in COLD: $XLP, $DBA, $XLU TEPID: All the rest. This tells me the sectors in which to focus this coming week. Comments welcome.

- MissEllie: CORN-@Ginny, I've been following this for a couple weeks but couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on the downdraft because it is so thinly traded and went parabolic. Some @rain in the midwest this weekend, but don't know if it is in the right states or is enough to materially affect the projected harvest. You can also look at $DBA, the ETF. Oops, sorry, now see I inadvertently duplicated A's post. Right down to the word parabolic!

MissEllie: CORN-just looked at $DBA composition-one source said $DBA Holdings: Cattle 4.68%, Cocoa 11.23%, Coffee 12.40%, Corn 13.67%, Cotton $2 2.85%, Lean Hogs 8.16%, Live Cattle 12.26%, Soybeans 13.06%, Sugar #11 11.60%, Wheat 4.66% and Wheat 5.41%.

- ogas: $AET, $BG, $WCN, JJG, DBN Just an observation: $AET and $BG - broke their "W" but getting close to resistance. $WCN - mentioned on #CNBC today - 52 week high. JJG and $DBA - both seem to be coming out of volatility squeezes.
- cmac: $DBA $DBA is breaking out of a multi-month consolidation, and boucing off the #200sma. I'm not buying, and don't really understand the strength in ag commodities (global growth ?), but it is an interesting chart none the less. May dip my toe in on any pullback closer to the 200 day as I like commodities better than equities at this point.
- BuffaloBill: $DBA - I agree Long $DBA - $DBA is up through Down Trend line beginning on 3/4/2011 - It crossed up through the trend on 8/19/2011 up from a hammer after a previous high close - My target is 34.70 Back to the highs of 4/20. If Friday FED says MORE QE I will ADD shares - $IF they say no more QE I will leave raised stop at 33.19
- sheela: MOS-what is the etf for ag. stocks LaurieAnn? It is not $DBA is it?
- Dave: What's working (or at least not so bad that you run away from like your hair's on fire): $DBA (Volatility #Squeeze!), $STON, $ZAGG (don't like this personally but have to give it kudos for holding in here), $NSR, $ERF, $TSO, $LNG, $AXTI, $BZF, $DTLK, $AAPL, ROC?, $TLT and of course, $SLV, $GLD, $DBP and about any inverse $ETF or derivation thereof. I realize that some of these are subjective, but feel free to add or contest some. btw, I'm long a whopping 2 of these - $SLV and $STON and not full positions on either.
- Tony Z: $DBA - Constructive looking chart on this Ag etf thats been going sideways recently. Very tight VS #squeeze after bouncing along the 150d ma for awhile. Popped above the 50d and the upper BB today. Seems like a fairly tight stop under 32 could be put on. Bought some today and also have a 30-35 call spread but #options are not very liquid in this one. I'll probably look at the $DBC also, but haven't yet.
- futurepants: Grains - $DBA did very well today. Chart looks ok here (one of the few!) on both daily and weekly timeframes with a tight stop about a point below current levels. -fp
- lizaanne: $CF is still 'working' according to @Dan's 'Survival Guide' Rules. $DBA, $POT, $MOS, and other fertilizers and grains may be 'rule breakers' and worth watching, espically if we get a bounce. Best wishes!
