We just had a 3 week pullback on the $SPY and $QQQ and when you zoom out it looks pretty healthy. The 10 Year is pulling back and the Dollar is at the bottom end of the range both of those are good for risk assets.

- Nepenthe: @bigbartabs $DJI $SPX $NDX $RUT Both the $QQQ and $SPY ran into resistance at the 50dma and 21dma respectively, and sold off. I wonder if the first day of every month has some volatility, but I'm not holding out hope for a rebound tomorrow. By the way, how's the smoke in foothills today? Cheers.

My home town up by the Oregon border is getting hit hard with smoke. Terrible up in the northeast corner of CA.

- RichardinME: @woodman $NVDA I'm still pretty new and find this stock very difficult to trade/or even hold. Rode it down to the 100 level, did not add as it was broken, and watched it go to 120 on probably what was $AMD and it's guidance. So I kept it thinking now downtrend is broken instead of selling at 120. I guess the support/resistance and up/downtrends don't work as well with $NVDA or any other stock when you have the $QQQ moving as much as 3 percent in a couple of hours.
- woodman: @RichardinME $NVDA $AMD $QQQ - NVDA has had a number of excellent runs, followed by a long consolidation or sizable pullback prior to the next great run. Last pullback was about 22% from its then ath, taking the stock below the 50d where it steadied itself over a week or more, then moved up again. Here we are now on a 27% move down off the current ath, dwelling below the 50d again over the last week or so. We'll see what happens this time around. Earnings are around the end of the month (estimated). I think we'll want to be in for them or for a run into them, but the macro picture may have something to say about that.

I suggest not focusing on $NVDA. Take note of the post I just made in this Trading Room, with a diagram of $NVDA. ... - champ: @Cjauger....$QQQ $SPY....We might find out tomorrow.....if the Markets are going to have a soft or hard landing....... and so far at these high Market levels, it is a little windy today, however if we don't get the right numbers, we could get blown off of this Mountain-top.

- RichardinME: @woodman $NVDA Obviously NDVA was broken but that did not stop the smart money from buying it up at 105. I had no stop so rode it all the way down. Sold some at 115 today., I think you're right about NVDA long-term but I wanted to raise some cash as I don't like $QQQ being below the 50 day:( I think the April correction left $NVDA and the QQQ's below support for about a week and everyone was bearish until we made more ATH'S I hope this is the correction everyone needed to be happy for a few months:)

- champ: @Wolf $QQQ ...Yes a large Trading company just dropped in a sell program into the Markets......and that triggers a lot of selling....... .....but all of that damage looks to be over now...... and getting a re-start now....because they are buying back at lower prices. ~~~~Nothing new going on, just computers at work...and there will always be a Next-time....and thats just how a zig-zag Market works, when it moves-up too-fast, however that will only slow it down for 30 minutes or so.

See the $NDX weekly chart. $SPX $SPY has morphed into the same boat, but with more diversification... maybe more apt to bounce. FWIW...

- Bert953: @scottrades $GOOGL yes, but though it looks like a good squeeze, the price is a fair distance above the 50 so it doesn't appear to qualify as Dan's money maker pattern. While price is also breaking out and is the highest on the chart, the doji (indecision candle) today is not showing enough strength on a weak-ish tape. Price is right on the 10 min VWAP and today's volume is also anemic. This would be a new position for me but I'm just not feeling the love. I have set alerts at $174, support zone and $181 resistance just above the HOD. Looking at FINVIZ 15 min charts that I keep on the bottom of a monitor, I see that all the indices are rolling over. The $DIA is the strongest, then $IWM, $SPY and $QQQ is weakest, being under Friday's close.

- Bert953: #MrMarket - Interesting that the $DIA is showing signs of strength moving up from a test of the recent lows. The 8 and 50DMA's are basically overlapping and the BB's are converging so a squeeze could be in the process of forming. The $IWM on the other hand is sitting just above a trendline from 4/19 to today. Price is < 8, 20, 50dMAs and looking weak. No surprise that smaller caps are feeling the hurt and the $MDY is pretty similar. $SPY & $QQQ are lounging around in the upper right of the chart but showing signs of weakening though they are > the 8dMA. I'm going to walk away from my screen so I'm not tempted to press the button and maybe harm myself. Since its already over 80 degrees, perhaps a visit to the beach or the pool would be time better invested.
